Boat stopping

Boat stopping exercise as part of Coastal Trident 21. UAV deployment of a drogue line.

Boat stopping

Slowed vessels are easier to engage

A vessel travelling at 40 knots is difficult to communicate with verbally and not easy to engage with kinetic effectors if required.

The same vessel travelling at 6 knots can be boarded, verbally communicated with or engaged kinetically if required.

Time is of the essence

By radically slowing a hostile vessel more time is bought for security personnel

to identify and engage.

Unmanned delivery

Drogue lines can be deployed by unmanned aerial and surface platforms using Maritime Arresting Technologies unique recoiless launcher. This removes the need to put operators into harms way.

Recoiless launcher

The launcher is compact and lightweight allowing it to be fitted to very small delivery platforms. Multiple units can be mounted allowing swarm attacks to be engaged.

Worst case

The deployment of drogue lines against a potential threat will not escalate an engagement. The worse case is that a potential threat experiences " minor inconvenience".
